Aramco Malaysia receives environmental award

Aramco Malaysia was recognized by the Global Environment Center (GEC) of Malaysia as a ‘Role Model for Non-Governmental Organizations’ for its contribution of planting mangrove saplings in the state of Johor.

This award was given by the Malaysian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, through its “National Program for Planting Mangroves & Other Suitable Species on the Coast”.

Through a multi-stakeholder partnership approach, GEC’s collaboration with Aramco Malaysia started in April 2018 and to date more than 10,000 mangrove saplings have been planted in Tanjung Surat & Belungkor area in Johor, by more than 1,000 participants including Aramco Malaysia volunteers. The engagement sessions and sustainable livelihood initiatives conducted have also positively impacted the lives of members of the local communities from all walks of life.
